Her Wai Lana Yoga TV series, which helped ignite yoga's popularity around the world, continues to attract a huge audience. Airing in the U.S. for over 25 years, it is the longest-running fitness series ever broadcast on public television.
Instructing us from the breathtaking coastlines of California and Hawaii, the snow-capped mountains of New Zealand, and the spectacular red rock deserts of Sedona, Wai Lana has become a favorite of viewers of all ages—from preschoolers to great-grandparents.
Wai Lana is not only a beautiful and charming yoga teacher, she is also a mother of three and grandmother of six, song writer, author, and genuine advocate for peoples' inner peace and well-being. Over the years, Wai Lana has also produced several video collections of yoga for people of all levels, published books, designed kids' yoga products, recorded music and meditation albums, developed a complete line of yoga gear, and even has her own line of healthy lifestyle products and snacks.
In 2015, Wai Lana produced her acclaimed Namaste music video to celebrate the first ever International Yoga Day. She wrote the Namaste song to help remind us of one of yoga's greatest lessons—humility and respect for others. Namaste was included in an hour-long PBS special called Wai Lana Yoga for a Better Life & a Better World which aired nationwide in the U.S. Namaste was also presented at an event held by the United Nations at their headquarters in New York City and was streamed live to tens of thousands of yoga lovers gathered in Times Square. It has since been viewed online by millions of people around the world. Wai Lana has produced seven more of these vibrant and colorful music videos, each with a different theme and profound message.
In 2016, she was honored with India's prestigious Padma Shri Award for her extraordinary achievements in popularizing yoga globally.
