Before You Begin
- Consult with your healthcare provider before starting any new exercise program
- Inform your instructor of any injuries, health conditions, or pregnancy
- Practice on a non-slip surface with adequate space around you
- Wear comfortable, breathable clothing that allows free movement
During Practice
- Never force your body into any position that causes pain
- Listen to your body and rest when needed
- Stay hydrated before, during, and after practice
- Breathe steadily throughout all exercises
- Move slowly and mindfully between poses
Special Considerations
- Pregnancy: Consult your doctor and avoid poses that compress the abdomen or involve lying on your back after the first trimester
- High blood pressure: Avoid inversions and breath retention
- Back problems: Avoid deep forward bends and twists without proper guidance
- Recent surgery: Wait for medical clearance before resuming practice
When to Stop
Stop practicing immediately if you experience:
- Sharp or sudden pain
- Dizziness or lightheadedness
- Difficulty breathing
- Chest pain or pressure
