According to both yoga and Traditional Chinese Medicine, if we want to achieve optimum physical and mental well-being, chi (subtle energy) needs to flow through the body with minimal blockages or imbalances. 

If you can, practice daily in a quiet, uncluttered space to enhance the focus on your breathing during the poses. Your ability to keep your attention on the feeling generated by the asanas, combined with steady breathing, will encourage the smooth flow of chi.
